Mayer Brown advises Hydro on the acquisition of Hueck group and its building systems and extrusions business in Germany

Mayer Brown has advised Hydro Extruded Solutions AS, a member of the Norsk Hydro group, on the acquisition of Hueck group, a provider of aluminium window, door, and facade systems and extruded aluminium profiles. 

The acquisition ensures strengthening Hydro’s presence in Germany and other European markets and create a solid platform for further growth of the combined business. Germany is the largest segment of the European market for building systems and aluminium extrusions. With the acquisition, Hydro will have five extrusion facilities, three recycling facilities and a total of 2,000 employees in the country.

Hueck is a family owned building systems and extrusions business with 500 employees, located in Lüdenscheid, Germany. Hueck Systems is a globally active, competent manufacturer and provider of aluminium profile systems for windows, doors and facade applications. Hueck Extrusion is an aluminium extrusion company, supplying extruded profiles for many industries.

Hydro Extrusions, as part of the Norsk Hydro group, is a world leading aluminium extrusion business counting around 100 production sites in 40 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia, and employing 21,000 people. Norsk Hydro group is a supplier of aluminum and aluminum products and conducts its business worldwide. The group provides automotive and transport products, building systems, casthouse products, extruded products, rolled products, and wire rod. Mayer Brown already advised Hydro on several transactions in the past.
