Mayer Brown is representing Marcura, in which Marlin Equity Partners is a shareholder, in connection with Marcura’s cross-border acquisition of Brightwell Payments Inc. (“Brightwell Navigator” or the “Company”), the maritime crew payroll and payment services division of Brightwell.
This acquisition expands Marcura’s footprint in the cruise sector where Brightwell Navigator dominates global cruise line crew payments with established strength in Europe and Asia. The combined entity will be responsible for paying more than 150,000 crew in any given month.
The transaction highlights Mayer Brown’s deep cross-border M&A capabilities and ongoing role as a trusted advisor in complex, international fintech, and maritime deals.
The multi-national Mayer Brown team is led by partner Jonathan Dhanawade, and associates Alexander Dussault, Olivia Altmayer, and Bradley Kaplan, with key insights and support from partners James West, Julian Dibbell, Jason Bazar, Arsen Kourinian, Mickey Leibner, Jean-Maxime Blutel, Roger Patrick, Richard Assmus, Musonda Kapotwe, David Beam, and David Saye; counsel Gina Del Tatto, Guillaume De Meersman, and Lori Shannon; and associates Susan Carlson, Ryan Lifland, John McPherson, Josh Cohen, Stephanie Wood, Kelly Truesdale, and Daniel Virtue in the firm’s Charlotte, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Salt Lake City, and Washington DC offices.
