Stephanie M. Hurst

Her practice is concentrated in technology and other innovation-driven sectors - AI and emerging technologies, media, sports and entertainment, deep tech, biotech, and climate tech - where she helps companies and investors navigate new technologies, business models, and markets.

Cross-border work is a significant part of Stephanie's practice. She advises non-US companies and investors on US financings, investments, acquisitions and expansion, and represents US and multinational clients in cross-border M&A. She has particular depth in US–Asia matters, having spent nearly two years resident in Mayer Brown's Hong Kong office, and works across the firm's global platform on European and other international transactions.

Stephanie also advises public and private companies on a range of ESG matters, including formation and operation of public benefit corporations/B Lab certification (i.e., Certified B Corp), compliance with anti-greenwashing, climate change and other ESG regulations (primarily at the US State level), ESG due diligence in investment and acquisition transactions, and other policy and commercial issues relating to increasing regulatory and investor expectations around climate change and other ESG matters.

She has taught guest lecturer courses on cross-border M&A, international business transactions, and venture capital at Stanford Graduate School of Business and the USC Gould School of Law. Stephanie has been named a “Top 100” lawyer and an “Attorney to Watch” by the Los Angeles Business Journal and recognized as a “Firm Attorney Visionary” by the LA Times B2B Publishing.
