Firm also receives a Gold Award and commendation for its London LGBT+ Network

London —Mayer Brown has climbed 51 places to position 13 in Stonewall's 2022 Top 100 Employers list for its commitment to the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people in the workplace. Stonewall’s annual benchmark tool showcases the most LGBTQ+ inclusive employers in the UK.

Mayer Brown, the fourth highest ranked law firm in the list, also received a Gold Award in recognition of its impressive rise up the table and the firm's London LGBT+ Network was highly commended.

According to the charity’s latest research, more than a third of LGBTQ+ staff (35 percent) hide who they are at work, while one in five (18 percent) have been the target of negative comments because they’re LGBTQ+.

Over the past 12 months, Mayer Brown's ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality in the workplace has improved the capture and reporting of diversity data, introduced an allyship program to enhance whole office engagement in London on LGBTQ+ issues and increased awareness of professional development opportunities for LGBTQ+ people.

"This year's ranking is a reflection of the tremendous work of our LGBT+ Network and allies across the firm to raise awareness, drive action and ensure that Mayer Brown is a place where everyone can be themselves and thrive," said Danielle White (she/her), Mayer Brown's Diversity & Inclusion Manager for Europe. "Whilst we are proud to have increased our ranking so significantly, we are determined not to stand still. We look forward to ongoing collaborations with our people, our clients, our peers and partner organizations to make Mayer Brown an even more LGBTQ+ friendly place to work."

Liz Ward, Director of Programmes at Stonewall (she/her) said: "We’re delighted for Mayer Brown whose incredible work towards LGBTQ+ inclusion this year has seen them land at 13th place in the Top 100. Every employer has a duty to make sure that their LGBTQ+ staff are free from discrimination at work, and our Top 100 list, alongside our Workplace Equality Index helps organizations reflect on their inclusion journey and celebrate best practice."

"We spend much of our time at work, and our career can be a huge part of how we define ourselves. That’s why it’s vital that every single lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer person feels like they can be themselves in their workplace."
