Mayer Brown has been recognized as a “Key Player” for India-related work in India Business Law Journal’s (IBLJ) 2023 report. This recognition is based on “extensive consultations with India-focused corporate counsel around the world and partners at Indian law firms, backed up by submissions received from a large number of international law firms and interviews,” according to IBLJ.

Mayer Brown has an established India practice with decades of experience in the Indian marketplace. Firm lawyers in the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, London and other European offices frequently advise on high profile matters. The firm supports clients undertaking business in India and acts for Indian diversified family conglomerates, corporations, foreign funds, financial institutions, Indian State and private banks and institutions with their legal requirements outside of India. The team’s lawyers are consistently recognized in prestigious rankings, including IBLJ’s “International A-List.”

David Carpenter, a partner in Mayer Brown’s New York office and co-leader of the firm’s India practice, was named to IBLJ’s 2023 “International A-List.” This recognition honors “the top 100 India-focused legal professionals who have developed strategies to serve clients in India without having a physical presence on the ground,” according to the publication. David focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and sales of businesses, joint ventures and strategic alliances, with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions. He also advises clients on investment and joint venture activities in India.

Mayer Brown’s India practice group is co-led by David Carpenter (US), Paul de Bernier (US), Soumitro Mukerji (Singapore) and Harjeet Lall (London).
