This recognition is based on “extensive consultations with India-focused corporate counsel around the world and partners at Indian law firms, backed up by submissions received from a large number of international law firms and interviews,” according to IBLJ.

David Carpenter, a partner in Mayer Brown’s New York office and co-leader of the firm’s India practice, was named to IBLJ’s 2023 “International A-List.” This recognition honors “the top 100 India-focused legal professionals who have developed strategies to serve clients in India without having a physical presence on the ground,” according to the publication. David focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and sales of businesses, joint ventures and strategic alliances, with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions. He also advises clients on investment and joint venture activities in India.
