Tatsuya Koyama is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice in Mayer Brown's Tokyo office.
He has a Masters in Science in mechanical engineering and he focuses on patent litigation matters mainly in consumer products such as smartphones, televisions, and personal computers.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Tatsuya worked at the IP group in Hitachi, Ltd. for more than 15 years, where he assisted a broad range of IP activities including patent licensing strategy, patent litigation support, settlement negotiations, licensing agreement, patent sales agreement, patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and IP strategy planning.
During his studies in mechanical engineering, he conducted research on robotic hands and ultrasonic clutches. He published papers in academic journals, presented in international conferences, and also obtained patents in the US and Japan from his studies.
He is also a registered Japanese patent attorney.
