Overview
Tatsuya Koyama is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice in Mayer Brown's Tokyo office.
A New York qualified attorney and registered Japanese patent attorney, Tatsuya focuses on patent litigation matters, mainly for consumer products such as smartphones, televisions and personal computers. His counsel is informed by his master of science in mechanical engineering.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Tatsuya worked in the IP group of Hitachi, Ltd. for more than 15 years on a broad range of IP matters—patent licensing strategies, patent litigation support, settlement negotiations, licensing agreements, patent sales agreements, patent portfolio management, patent prosecutions, IP strategy planning, among other work.
While pursuing his mechanical engineering degree, Tatsuya conducted research on robotic hands and ultrasonic clutches. Related to his studies, Tatsuya has published papers in academic journals, presented at international conferences and obtained patents in the United States and Japan.
