Mitigating Legal Risk in AI Exports and Services: Addressing the New Trump Administration Compliance Expectations

Please join Mayer Brown's webinar as we explain the Trump Administration’s recent announcement of a changed approach to national security restrictions on AI chips and servers. The Administration has signaled its support for exports of advanced AI commodities to trusted partners around the world, while at the same time, announcing new, stringent due diligence requirements for companies that use these items outside the United States, or who rely on their services. Hyperscalers, data center operators, and others in the AI industry must know not only who their customers are, but their customer’s planned activities. The webinar will explain the intended purpose of these requirements and best practices for compliance.

The webinar is presented as a conversation between Mayer Brown partners Thea Kendler, Tamer Soliman, and Aiysha Hussain. Thea has a unique combination of regulatory and enforcement experience: she served as the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration at the Commerce Department, where she was responsible for export control policy and regulations, including the January AI Diffusion rule, as well as in the Justice Department’s Counterintelligence and Export Control Section. Thea and Tamer co-lead Mayer Brown’s Sanctions and Export Control practice. Aiysha also recently joined the firm from the Commerce Department, where she served as a senior advisor and subject matter expert on AI and export controls.
