Luc W. M. Mitchell is an experienced litigator in Mayer Brown’s New York Office. A member of the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution and international arbitration practices, Luc’s primary focus is on securities and derivative actions, complex civil litigation, and complex cross-border disputes. Luc has extensive experience in all states of litigation and arbitration, including initial pleadings, discovery, trial, and appeal.

Most recently, Luc won a five-day bench trial in the Delaware Court of Chancery representing the Special Committee of the Board of a publicly traded financial company; won the dismissal in the New York Commercial Division of a suit alleging fraud by cryptocurrency founders; won summary judgment in the Southern District of New York in a suit alleging a nearly $100 million contractual liability against a major media company; represented a major tech real-estate company in securities class-action and derivative suits; and represented multiple companies in ICC arbitrations regarding contracts in the oil & gas industry in Brazil.

In his pro bono practice Luc handles criminal appellate work, including in capital and long-term incarceration cases.

Luc received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he was an editor on the Columbia Journal of European Law. Prior to law school, he worked at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, and on a presidential campaign. He received his BA from Sarah Lawrence College.
