Matt has over 25 years’ experience advising on and structuring complex working capital financing arrangements for banks, asset managers and other institutional investors.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Matt was a Managing Director and held several in-house leadership roles (including General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer) supporting the trade finance businesses of two global banks. Matt also has considerable experience representing financial technology companies and supporting global commerce platforms in offering embedded financing products and services to their customers.

Clients turn to Matt for his legal and compliance expertise in working capital and trade finance products including asset-based loans, letters of credit, bills of exchange, receivables and inventory monetization and supply chain finance.

  • Represented a financial technology company in a $220,000,000 receivable purchase facility for a large construction company to support the building of data centers for hyper-scalers.*
  • Represented a major global bank in providing a $350,000,000 supply chain finance facility to large American consumer goods company and its various foreign subsidiaries pursuant to which the bank purchased trade receivables from the company’s suppliers in over 25 countries.*
  • Represented a major global bank, as agent in providing a $1,550,000,000 revolving credit and term loan facility to finance the acquisition of a large off-shore drilling company.*
  • Represented a large commercial finance company in providing a $160,000,000 asset-based lending and factoring facility to a multinational hip-hop apparel manufacturer.*
  • Represented a major global bank in providing a $300,000,000 distribution finance facility to a large American technology company and its various foreign subsidiaries pursuant to which the bank purchased trade receivables owed to the company by its distributors located in over 20 countries, primarily in emerging markets.*
  • Created a financial asset distribution structure for a financial technology company allowing for successful syndication of over $14 billion of financial assets into the capital markets.*
