Robert represents insurers in various matters — from putative class actions to coverage litigation — and advises on related issues. His financial institutions practice encompasses litigation and counseling across a broad range of matters, including those involving residential mortgage-backed securities and consumer-finance claims. • Obtained dismissal of insurers from putative antitrust class actions based in part on a first-impression interpretation of the Cartwright Act.
• Obtained early dismissals of putative nationwide class actions against insurer seeking coverage for COVID-19 commercial property insurance claims.
• Secured a complete appellate victory for financial institutions in a long-running residential mortgage-backed securities repurchase lawsuit, obtaining reversal of the trial court’s ruling on contested claims.
• Obtained early dismissal of putative class action claims against loan servicer related to alleged statutory violations.
