Mayer Brown's Matthew Chow named “Young Lawyer of the Year” at ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2026
Hong Kong – Mayer Brown is delighted to announce that Matthew Chow, a partner based in the firm's Hong Kong office, has been named “Young Lawyer of the Year” at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2026, one of the most prestigious legal award programs in Asia organized by Asian Legal Business, a Thomson Reuters publication. The award was presented at a ceremony held in Hong Kong on September 11, 2026.
Promoted to partner in January 2026, Matthew has over 16 years of legal experience and is recognized as one of Asia's most versatile front-end projects specialists.
Matthew is particularly known for his work on large-scale, internationally financed energy and infrastructure projects, where he advises on the full spectrum of project documentation, including EPC contracts, power purchase agreements, concession agreements, FSRU shipbuilding and conversion contracts, O&M agreements, long-term service agreements, and lender direct agreements. He is widely respected for his practical, commercially focused approach, strong negotiation skills, and ability to build trusted relationships with clients, counterparties, and lenders alike, often playing a key brokering role at crucial junctures in a deal. Matthew's achievement exemplifies the caliber of talent at our Hong Kong office, reflecting the firm's ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of market-leading practitioners.
