Mayer Brown bolsters global investigations and enforcement defense bench with former senior DOJ prosecutor Albert Stieglitz

WASHINGTON DC – Mayer Brown announced today that Albert “BJ” Stieglitz has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Investigations & White Collar Defense practice in Washington DC. He joins Mayer Brown from Alston & Bird.

BJ advises companies and individuals on internal investigations, government enforcement actions, litigation, and compliance matters involving securities fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and other complex and often cross-border issues. He has advised clients across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, life sciences, energy, retail, financial services, manufacturing, private equity, technology, and transportation.  

Before entering private practice, BJ spent nearly 13 years with the US Department of Justice, including in senior leadership roles in the Criminal Division's Fraud Section, where he led and oversaw significant fraud and FCPA investigations, tried multiple federal criminal cases to verdict, and was twice awarded the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service. He also was selected as the DOJ’s first-ever dual secondee to the UK’s Serious Fraud Office and Financial Conduct Authority, a role in which he led investigations of a variety of UK offenses, negotiated two UK deferred prosecution agreements, and advised on transatlantic enforcement issues and interagency relationships.
