London – Mayer Brown was awarded the Pro Bono Connect Award at the 2025 LawWorks Pro Bono Awards on 3 December 2025 in London, alongside Matthew Parfitt of Erskine Chambers.

We are honoured to be recognised for our work in securing a victory for Nate Macabuag (founder and director of prosthetic limb company Koalaa) in an unfair prejudice petition in the High Court, as well as a £345,000 pro bono costs order in favour of the Access to Justice Foundation, following a two-week trial and an appeal. The costs order is understood to be the largest pro bono costs order made to date.

The success was the result of two years of work by the firm's London Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement practice, who devoted a total of more than 2,000 hours to the matter.

The LawWorks Pro Bono Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement in legal pro bono by organisations and individuals across England and Wales. See more at the LawWorks website here
