Mayer Brown advises Central Asia Metals on proposed A$185 million acquisition of New World Resources, owner of Arizona Antler Copper Project
LONDON – Mayer Brown represented Central Asia Metals Plc (CAML) as UK and US legal adviser in its acquisition of New World Resources Limited for approximately A$185 million, by way of an Australian Court-approved scheme of arrangement.
CAML is a UK incorporated base metals producer with operations in Europe and Asia. Through this transaction, CAML will acquire a 100% interest in the Antler Project, a high-grade copper deposit located in Arizona in the United States. The acquisition is expected to more than double CAML’s copper equivalent production and significantly enhance its exposure to the US critical minerals sector.
The transaction remains subject to various conditions, including shareholder and regulatory approvals, and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025.
The US Mayer Brown team included partners Paul de Bernier and Meaghan Connors and associates Sara Baldazo and Brian Cohen in the Northern California and Houston offices. The UK Mayer Brown team included partners Rachel Speight, Nanak Keswani, and Andy Kolacki and independent consultant Rob Hamill in the London office.
