Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs

Share
Shout out to a team from Mayer Brown that won a ruling striking down a Rhode Island law that disproportionately tolled large commercial trucks passing through the state’s interstate highways. After a 12-day bench trial this summer, U.S. District Judge William Smith in Providence this week sided with the firm’s clients—the American Trucking Association, Cumberland Farms and M&M Transport Services—finding that the law, known as RhodeWorks, violated the dormant commerce clause. The Mayer Brown trial team was led by Reginald Goeke, Evan Tager, Charles Rothfeld and Sean McDonnell who is now the director of government investigations at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The team also included Colleen Campbell, Michelle Webster, Eric White and Tara More.
