The 2026 ILS Annual Conference aims to observe and promote the rule of law, provide outstanding legal education, networking, business development and relationship building opportunities to international lawyers from around the world. This year's conference is taking place from May 12-14, 2026 in Washington D.C.

Mayer Brown partner Kelly Kramer will be speaking at the conference on a panel titled "Trade Enforcement in Transition: Navigating the Evolving Landscape of U.S. Trade Policy and Enforcement". Trade enforcement has emerged as a central pillar of the Trump Administration’s economic strategy. The DOJ has identified “trade and customs fraud, including tariff evasion” as one of its enforcement priorities, has Page 7 of 35 announced significant settlements with importers, and has created a dedicated unit to pursue these cases. 2025 has seen the DOJ intervene in False Claims Act cases related to tariff evasion, another tool in the administration’s toolkit. The impact has been felt not only in the U.S., but around the world, particularly certain high-risk jurisdictions such as Mexico and China. This panel will explore the evolving landscape of U.S. trade policy and enforcement mechanisms, with a focus on the legal implications for practitioners, corporations, and compliance professionals.
