U.S. Enforcement Outlook: Anticipated Impact on Brazilian Multinationals

Share

Businesses can expect a more vigorous enforcement environment in the Biden administration. The new administration will focus on anti-corruption and environmental crimes, and will hold more companies, board members, senior executives, compliance officers, lawyers and accountants civilly and criminally liable.

To help navigate the evolving U.S. enforcement landscape, we invite you to join a webinar led by four Mayer Brown partners—all of whom had served as U.S. government prosecutors or regulators. They will provide their insights into how that increased enforcement scrutiny may impact Brazilian companies with any U.S. touchpoints, and explore ways that Brazilian companies can proactively reduce their risks.

Topics will include:

  • Expansion of U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-corruption enforcement, including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) new initiative to pursue foreign corruption violations
  • U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) enforcement and examination priorities and related U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) securities prosecutions
  • The proposed DOJ Environmental and Climate Justice Division, which is expected to broaden the environmental enforcement footprint and impose more stringent penalties, and
  • Anti-money laundering compliance initiatives
