Overview

Nick Vallorano is a partner at Mayer Brown and a member of the Banking & Finance practice. He focuses on public finance, regulatory matters, and ethics and political law.

Nick represents clients on complex public infrastructure transactions, including public-private partnerships, serving in different transactions as government entity counsel, sponsors’ counsel, or lenders’ counsel. He advised on the proposed 40-year private lease of the Westchester County Airport in Westchester County, New York, and represented the Public Sector Pension Investment Board on its acquisition of Oaktree Capital Group LLC’s stake in the lessee joint venture for the San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Other recent representations include the City of St. Louis on the potential P3 for the St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the Alabama Department of Transportation on its Mobile River Bridge Project, the Texas Department of Transportation on various P3 projects, and a shortlisted bidder on the Colorado Central 70 Project.

Nick has also represented clients on a number of public finance transactions. He has represented the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and Chicago Midway Airport on various bond offerings and is currently advising the Illinois Housing Development Authority on single family, multifamily, and conduit bond offerings. He additionally served as underwriters’ counsel with respect to the State of Illinois’ sale of $4.5 billion of General Obligation Bonds, Series of November 2017D, the proceeds of which were used in part to pay down a backlog of unpaid bills incurred by the State of Illinois.

Nick also advises clients on various public law and political law matters, including government ethics and lobbyist registration rules, as well as on regulatory, financing, and corporate matters affecting gaming companies.

Nick earned his JD, summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Illinois College of Law. While there, he served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Illinois Law Review. Nick was awarded his BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
