Overview

Admitted to the Paris Bar and Brussels Bar (E List),  Wladimir Soltmann is an associate in the Antitrust & Competition practice in France. 

Previously, Wladimir was a case handler with the French Competition Authority, as a member of the Merger Unit, before being appointed at the General Court of the European Union (Luxembourg), as a Référendaire. Wladimir has developed an extensive knowledge of proceedings before the French Competition Authority, the European Commission and the European courts. 

Wladimir gained experience in all aspects of competition law at both National and European levels, with a particular focus on merger filings, as well as on cartels, concerted practices and dominance investigations before competition authorities and European courts. 

In the context of his previous functions, Wladimir has notably developed specific experience in several sectors of activity, including telecommunications, agri-food, retail, consumer goods, as well as issues involving monopolies, special or exclusive rights and markets recently opened to competition.

In addition, Wladimir lectures both French and EU Merger Control at Skema Business School. He is the author of “Technical standards and Innovation. Cross analysis of IP rights and competition law” (PhD thesis). He was a speaker in several symposiums in France and abroad.

In addition to his native French, Wladimir is fluent in English.

Experience

Merger Control
Wladimir was in charge of numerous notification proceedings before the FCA for several years. He was given the opportunity to take part in Advisory Committees before the European Commission (Phase II cases). He gained experience in both the notification of mergers involving industries as well as investment funds.

Antitrust Investigations
As a former case handler, Wladimir took part in Competition investigations.
