Overview

Prior to becoming a professional support lawyer for the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in London, Sarah Shearman acted for clients in the context of litigation and dispute resolution processes, primarily in the banking and finance sector. Her experience includes acting for clients in disputes involving complex financial products, derivatives, high-profile class actions, mis-selling and misrepresentation and high-value, multi-party bribery and corruption. She has acted for clients in the pre-action stages, throughout the Court process, in mediations and enforcement scenarios and in group litigation, including assisting both institutional and retail litigants in obtaining funding and ATE insurance.

Sarah also spent two years acting for clients in the banking and finance sector in a transactional capacity. Her experience covers a wide range of financial products including loans, commercial mortgage-backed securities, derivatives and bonds.

  • Acted for group of defendants in litigation concerning allegations of bribery commenced by the Republic of Mozambique against various entities in the Privinvest Group, Credit Suisse and certain named individuals *
  • Acted for a large group of institutional and retail investors in the RBS Rights Issue Litigation *
  • Assisted in obtaining advice from Counsel as well as funding and ATE cover for a potential group action against two insurance companies *
  • Acted for private individual on pro bono matter against a major bank in relation to a disputed mortgage product *
  • Acted for a boutique investment bank operating in emerging and frontier markets in relation to Global Depository Notes and a mistake as to their valuation *
