Overview

Russell Nance, a partner in the New York office of Mayer Brown LLP for nearly 20 years, focuses primarily on the federal income tax aspects of finance transactions, particularly structured finance, securitization, and financial products.

Russell has worked exhaustively in finance and structured finance from the late 90’s through today. During this time, Russell has worked in a wide range of asset classes, including RMBS, RTLs, CLOs, MSRs, CMBS, credit card, auto loan, auto lease, student loan, accounts receivable, whole business, life settlement, credit risk transfer, and other related asset classes. He frequently works with REMICs and other specialty finance structures. He was graduated first in his class from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1997 followed by an LL.M. in tax from New York University in 1998. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Russell practiced in New York with two major Wall Street law firms. Russell has been recognized as a leading tax attorney by Chambers USA for five years and is currently Band 2, Capital Markets: Securitization: Tax and Band 5, Tax, New York. Russell has served as the co-chair of the Structured Finance Association's Tax Policy Committee since 2019.
