Overview
Sam Manelin is a member of the firm’s Legal Risk Management team. She partners with firm leadership to provide a broad range of employment advice on all matters relating to the firm’s employment practices, in addition to various other legal issues involving the firm’s personnel and partners.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Sam spent over a decade practicing defense-side employment law at another global law firm. Sam’s clients – which included large financial services institutions, major sports leagues, and global retailers – turned to her for advice and representation on all variety of employment law matters, including:
- Investigation and management of high-profile allegations of workplace misconduct and harassment;
- Litigation and mediation of wage-and-hour claims, in both individual and class/collective action settings;
- Counseling with respect to COVID and post-COVID policies for the workforce;
- Auditing of employee and contractor classifications across all levels of an organization.
Sam regularly litigated on behalf of employers in federal and state courts, as well before state and federal administrative agencies, with respect to a wide variety of employment claims, including claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; claims of unpaid overtime and minimum wage violations; and claims of misclassification. She also successfully defended her clients in federal appellate matters.
