Overview

Shantelle LaFayette is an associate in Mayer Brown's New York office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice. Her practice focuses on patent litigation and due diligence matters related to the life sciences industry.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Shantelle practiced law at another prominent global firm, where she maintained a diverse IP litigation practice that touched on patents, trademarks and damages issues. While articling at said firm, Shantelle completed a secondment in the legal department of a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation, where she gained experience with commercial, regulatory and intellectual property matters related to the innovative pharmaceutical industry.

Before attending law school, Shantelle earned a Ph.D in Microbiology and Immunology and a M.Sc in Molecular Genetics. Her academic research has focused on immune responses to chronic bacterial lung infections and the role of cellular stress signaling in antimicrobial drug resistance and tolerance.
