Overview

Mark Hills is counsel in the Antitrust & Competition practice in Mayer Brown’s London office. His experience spans all core areas of competition law. In particular, he has experience advising clients in the financial services, PE, technology, retail and FMCG sectors on merger control and FDI considerations in M&A transactions and joint ventures, competition investigations, behavioural matters and competition law compliance.

Mark has experience working on complex second phase mergers before the European Commission and Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). He worked at the CMA as a Principal Case Officer (secondee) in the Mergers Unit responsible for undertaking a number of complex and high-profile UK merger investigations. 

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Mark spent several years working in-house at a leading European bank where he was responsible for enhancing its competition compliance framework, including in particular a 'root and branch' review of the bank's competition law compliance framework and risk assessment process. In addition to being the bank’s legal adviser on competition law matters, he had day-to-day responsibility for overseeing its UK competition compliance and training programme.
