Overview

Josh Cohen is an associate in the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy, Technology & IP Transactions and Corporate & Securities practices in Mayer Brown’s Chicago office. Josh advises US and multinational companies on complex global privacy and data security issues, including in the context of pre-merger due diligence and post-merger integration of programs and policies. His clients span a broad range of industries, including automotive, technology, communications, financial, and food & beverage.

Josh’s practice includes counseling on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA); the forthcoming Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), and Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA); and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), among other privacy and security frameworks. Josh also helps clients draft and negotiate data processing agreements and other commercial agreements.

Josh received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and his BA, cum laude, from Northwestern University. Josh is recognized as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
