Overview

David Cox is an associate in Mayer Brown's Salt Lake City office and a member of the Construction & Engineering group and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. David’s legal representations have involved numerous construction projects in the energy, infrastructure, and commercial sectors including, oil and gas refineries, multi-jurisdictional transmission lines, high-rise towers, airports, collegiate sports arenas, bridges, tunnels, highways, and multi-family projects. David represents owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in numerous construction disputes, including schedule delays, cost overruns and inefficiencies, change orders, payment disputes, terminations, and construction defects. He also negotiates and drafts a variety of construction contracts in the energy, infrastructure, and commercial sectors.

David has experience in various forms of domestic and international dispute resolution, including informal and formal mediation, state and federal litigation, and ICC, AAA, and JAMS arbitrations.

Before becoming a lawyer, David earned a bachelor of science degree in Construction Management and gained practical office and field experience in the construction and real estate industries. He has earned several construction industry certifications, including becoming a LEED Accredited Professional and an Associate Constructor of the American Institute of Constructors.

While attending law school, David was a judicial extern to the Honorable Chief Judge Rosanna Malouf Peterson of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington (2013).
