Overview
Jennifer Chang is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Mayer Brown's Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. She is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on representing technology companies in complex commercial litigation, and international companies in cross-border disputes. Jennifer regularly practices in state and federal courts. She represents clients on a broad array of claims, including consumer protection and deception class actions, internet privacy and cybersecurity disputes, and contractual breach and tort claims. Jennifer was part of the trial team that secured a $90 million judgement in Rostack Investments Inc. v. Angela C. Sabella (Cal. Super. Ct. 2021), which has been recognized by Daily Journal as one of California’s “Top Verdicts” of 2021.
Experience
Examples of Jennifer’s cases include:
- Rostack Investments v. Angela Sabella (Los Angeles Superior Ct. 2021, Cal. Ct. of Appeal 2023): Trial team and appellate counsel for an international lender, Rostack Investments, in a contractual dispute with its noteholder. Obtained $90 million judgment in client’s favor, which was affirmed on appeal.
- Kellman v. Spokeo (N.D. Cal. 2021) and Boyd v. Spokeo (Los Angeles Superior Ct. 2021): Counsel for Spokeo, Inc. in class actions asserting state right-of-publicity claims.
- Carmeli v. Razor USA (C.D. Cal. 2022): Defended manufacturer of youth bikes and scooters against consumer fraud and false advertising claims. Secured dismissal with prejudice at pleading stage.
- Angeles v. Nestlé USA, 632 F.Supp.3d 309 (S.D.N.Y. 2022): Defended maker of flavored sparkling water against false advertising claims. Secured dismissal with prejudice at pleading stage.
