Overview
Gary Bownes is a respected corporate and transactional lawyer whose practice focuses primarily on commercial property issues. He has considerable experience across virtually all aspects of commercial conveyancing, particularly regarding the acquisition and disposal of all types of freehold and leasehold property and the administration of leasehold property portfolios for large UK, Irish, and US corporate clients.
He has been involved with numerous large and complex transactions for industry-leading clients such as Unilever and its subsidiaries, Cosgrave Group, Putnam Investments, Kimberly-Clark, Alvarez & Marsal and Vue (formerly Warner Village Cinemas).
Gary joined Mayer Brown's London office in 1987. He gained significant international experience between 1989 and 1991, in the course of a secondment at Freehill Hollingdale & Page, in Melbourne, Australia. Previously, Gary worked with another leading law firm in the UK. He was a partner with Mayer Brown between 1995 and 2012 before becoming a consultant in 2013.
