Overview

Amanda Streff Bonner is an associate in Mayer Brown's Chicago office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice. She focuses primarily on patent litigation and inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Amanda’s practice focuses on areas of electrical engineering, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. She is experienced in technologies such as mobile devices, semiconductors, LCD panels, telecommunications, and medical devices.

She has extensive experience in IPRs and has been counsel in over 60 IPR proceedings. For this work, she was recognized as a “Top Attorney” in IPR proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board by Docket Navigator.

She has significant research experience with nanoparticles and nanobiotechnology. In 2009, Amanda externed for Hon. Amy St. Eve of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Also, while attending law school, she argued Consolidation Coal v. William F. Kusch, No. 09-2297 (3rd Cir. 2011) in successful affirmance of administrative decision awarding claimant coal miner black lung benefits.

N.J. 2012) - Part of the team which represented Nissan North America, Inc. in a patent infringement suit involving rear camera view technology in automobiles. After successfully arguing at the Markman hearing that the claims were indefinite, the case was dismissed.
  • McKlein Company LLC v. Swany America Corp. (N.D. Ill. 2011) - Part of the team which represented Swany America Corporation in a patent litigation brought by McKlein Company LLC alleging infringement of a US patent with respect to removable handles and wheel assembly for cases, bags, and luggage. The matter was settled very favorably and dismissed accordingly.
  • Technology Innovations LLC v. Amazon.Com Inc. (D. Del. 2011) – Part of the team representing Amazon.com Inc., a provider of e-commerce, in a patent litigation suit brought by Technology Innovations LLC regarding patents related to Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader. The matter was originally filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas, but was dismissed and re-filed in the District of Delaware after Amazon threatened sanctions in Texas.
  • Stragent, LLC, et. al. v. Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., et al. (E.D. Tex. 2011) - Part of the team which represented American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by Stragent and SeeSaw Foundation regarding a patent for voice recognition technology.
  • Howmedica Osteonics Corp., et al. v. Smith & Nephew, Inc. (D. N.J. 2011) - Part of the team which represented Smith & Nephew, Inc. in a patent infringement litigation regarding external bone fixation devices.
