Francis Joyner honored with “Pro Bono Award” by Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy

CHARLOTTE, June 6, 2025 – Mayer Brown Banking & Finance counsel Francis Joyner was recognized by the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy as a recipient of its Pro Bono Award at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Mecklenburg Bar Association and 26th Judicial District Bar.
Francis received the award in recognition of his pro bono service supporting Charlotte’s immigrant community through his work in Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy’s Power of Attorney Clinic. The Power of Attorney Clinic helps clients fearing separation from their families to prepare an emergency safety plan, including preparing a power of attorney that authorizes a trusted friend or family member to take actions on the client’s behalf in their absence.
Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy provides legal assistance to low-income individuals and families in the Charlotte region, helping them meet basic needs and improve their lives. The organization works to address the access to justice gap through direct representation, policy advocacy, and community education.
