Mayer Brown was recognized as one of the most innovative law firms in Asia Pacific at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2023 Report.

The firm also received a "Standout" and a "Commended" recognition for advising two debt capital market (DCM) deals.

The team led by Corporate & Securities partner Thomas Kollar in Hong Kong advised on the Republic of Indonesia's switch tender offer to redeem sovereign bonds and issue new one – which was named a "Standout" in deal making.

"The Mayer Brown team mitigated the risk of bondholders' not paying for the new issuance by sharing that risk among a syndicate of banks. This enabled Indonesia to optimise its debt-service levels in the face of volatile markets," the publication said.

The team led by Corporate & Securities partner Guiping Lu in Hong Kong was "Commended" for advising underwriters in the creation of a new debt product. The offering of the bonds uses an offshore trustee and gives global investors direct access to issuers of renminbi-denominated bonds in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, according to the publication.

The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2023 Report showcased and ranked law firms and lawyers in private practice and inhouse legal teams for their most innovative work and projects in the practice and business of law.
