A Mayer Brown team represented the Capital District of Bogota, Colombia, as the borrower, in the first unsecured Colombian peso denominated-loan. The loan, from Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., is guaranteed by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.

Washington DC-based Banking & Finance partner Gabriela Sakamoto led the team, which also included associate Romina Fernandez, who is resident in Mexico City.

The proceeds of the loan will be used by the District of Bogota to fund projects and health services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
