Cyber Spotlight: Federal and State Privacy Legislation and Associated Requirements – Where Are We Now?

分享

New comprehensive privacy frameworks in California, Virginia and Colorado are set to come into effect in 2023, and a privacy bill closely resembling Virginia’s is on tap for Utah in 2024. The rulemaking processes for the enacted laws are in their early stages. To the chagrin of covered businesses, privacy advocates and interested spectators alike, it is too soon to tell what regulations will be promulgated and how the laws will be implemented and enforced. Meanwhile, the patchwork of state laws points to the need for comprehensive federal legislation, resulting in further progress on such legislation, including the American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADPPA).

  • Discover the important ways in which the state laws differ
  • Stay abreast of actions by state AGs and work groups
