Elisabeth Anderson (Libby) is an associate in Mayer Brown’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Libby’s practice focuses on advising and defending clients in consumer class actions and commercial litigation, at both the trial and appellate level. She has worked extensively with clients in the automotive and food and beverage industries, among others, and she is a regular contributor to the Advertising Disputes & Litigation and Consumer Protection Committees’ Recent Litigation Developments newsletter.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Libby clerked for The Honorable R. Gary Klausner on the US District Court for the Central District of California and The Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw on the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She also previously worked as a litigation associate at another prominent law firm in Los Angeles. Libby received her JD from the UCLA School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of Coif. In law school, Libby served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Kimberly J. Mueller on the US District Court for the Eastern District of California. She also was a member of the UCLA School of Law Supreme Court Clinic and served as senior editor of the UCLA Law Review. Libby received a BA in political science, summa cum laude, from the University of San Diego, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

  • Assisted in representing General Motors in a variety of matters, including on a team that obtained dismissal of privacy claims regarding website tracking software, and that obtained dismissal of consumer protection and warranty claims in a product defect action at both the trial and appellate level.
  • Assisted in representing multiple companies accused of falsely advertising products as white chocolate and winning motions to dismiss those claims.
  • Advised company in food and beverage industry regarding litigation risks of proposed website advertisements.
  • Handled oral argument before the California Court of Appeal on behalf of respondent in appeal from denial of motion to compel arbitration.
