Mayer Brown has once again been named Benefits Group of the Year, reflecting the firm’s high profile victories and impactful work defeating high-profile ERISA class action lawsuits over the past year.
The honor highlights the ERISA Litigation team’s continued leadership in navigating clients through some of the most significant and complex litigation matters in 2025. Examples of the team’s victories include:
- Achieving a significant summary judgment victory on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Motion Picture Industry Pension Plans and 50 of its current and former Individual Directors in an ERISA class action lawsuit asserting novel and complex investment challenges.
- Achieving a significant summary judgment win for Caesars Holdings in an ERISA class action challenging the target-date funds offered in the Caesars’ 401(k) and the company’s retention of an experienced 3(38) investment manager for the 401(k) plan.
- Securing a complete motion to dismiss victory for Siemens Corporation in an ERISA class action challenging the allocation of its 401(k) plan forfeitures—unvested employer contributions forfeited by departing employees—to the company’s plan contributions. The team is currently representing Siemens on appeal in the Third Circuit.
- Securing a complete motion to dismiss victory for Nordstrom in an ERISA class action challenging Nordstrom’s 401(k) plan’s recordkeeping and administrative fees, its managed account service officer, and the allocation of its plan forfeitures. The team is currently representing Nordstrom on appeal in the Ninth Circuit.
- Securing a complete motion to dismiss victory for Marmon Holdings in an ERISA class action lawsuit challenging its 401(k) plan’s recordkeeping and administrative fees.
Mayer Brown’s award winning ERISA Litigation group combines decades of experience, skilled advocacy, and cutting-edge insights to help its clients defend and defeat the most complex ERISA litigation matters.
