WASHINGTON DC – Mayer Brown announced today the launch of its State Attorneys General (AG) Task Force, a bipartisan and multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing strategic legal counsel to clients facing increasingly complex and high-stakes government investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation across the United States. The new task force will be co-led by partners Ken Wainstein and Tom Perez, both of whom bring decades of bipartisan experience at the highest levels of federal and state government.

The team is positioned to help clients anticipate, manage, and mitigate exposure to a broad spectrum of government actions, drawing on the experience of former senior officials from state AG offices, the US Department of Justice, and other federal and state enforcement agencies. This collective experience allows the team to offer a comprehensive and nuanced approach to navigating the evolving regulatory landscape.

“We understand the decision-making processes that drive these investigations and enforcement priorities because many of us have worked alongside, and even within, these offices,” said Ken Wainstein. “This perspective enables us to anticipate regulatory trends, facilitate constructive dialogue, and deliver effective solutions for our clients – whether they are facing informal inquiries or high-stakes litigation.”

Raj De, member of the Mayer Brown global Management Committee, added that, “We are excited to launch our State AG Task Force, reflecting both our clients' growing needs and our firm's commitment to providing strategic and effective guidance in this increasingly important area.”

Mayer Brown’s team offers a full suite of legal services tailored to the unique needs of clients across a wide range of industries, including antitrust and competition, data privacy, consumer protection, environmental and energy, financial services and securities, employment and labor, and higher education. The group’s approach is defined by early engagement, strategic negotiation, and a deep sensitivity to both legal and reputational risk, enabling the team to anticipate regulatory trends, facilitate constructive dialogue, and deliver effective solutions for clients in matters ranging from informal inquiries to high-stakes litigation.

“As state AGs become more active and influential, the investigations and enforcement actions they pursue can have significant legal and reputational consequences for organizations across all sectors,” said Tom Perez. “Our team’s deep experience and bipartisan relationships allow us to provide clients with the insight and advocacy they need to address these challenges head-on and protect their interests at every stage.”
