Mayer Brown is pleased to announce that it has received the 2025 “Pro Bono Publico Law Firm of the Year” award from the Utah State Bar, which recognizes lawyers and firms that show remarkable dedication to offering free legal support to underserved and low-income individuals.

Lawyers in the firm’s Salt Lake City office devoted 925 hours of pro bono in 2024, which included 71% of the office’s associates performing at least 20 hours of pro bono during the year, and several associates and partners performing over 60 hours individually. The office’s pro bono work contributed to initiatives with international, national, and local reach.

The office began 2025 with one-third of its lawyers volunteering at the Utah Expungement Clinic, which helped over 1,000 Utahans clear at least one record. Other local initiatives included the ABA’s Free Legal Answers clinic, the Utah Bar’s Virtual Legal Clinic (where Mayer Brown lawyers provided over 500 hours of brief legal advice), and the Utah Bar’s Ukraine Immigration Clinic.

Mayer Brown’s commitment to pro bono extends beyond direct client service. The firm participates in continuing legal education programs on pro bono, holds representation on the Access to Justice Commission, and fosters a culture of service throughout the firm.

Since its launch in early 2022, Mayer Brown’s Salt Lake City office has expanded to include 33 lawyers. The team specializes in areas such as venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, private investment funds, capital markets, technology transactions and licensing, complex litigation, and employment law, including both advising and litigation.
