Construction projects across the Gulf routinely give rise to disputes over performance bonds, contract suspensions and terminations — yet the legal frameworks governing these remedies differ markedly from one jurisdiction to the next. Drawing on recent casework spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia and beyond, this panel examines the practical challenges practitioners face when seeking (or resisting) interim measures to restrain on-demand bond calls under DIAC, ICC and ad hoc rules, and when advising on suspension and termination rights under the UAE Civil Code, FIDIC-based contracts, English common law and Saudi Civil Transactions Law. The discussion is grounded in experience, not theory — panellists will share lessons from live and recently concluded disputes on Gulf construction and engineering projects.
