GENIUS Act Questions Big and Small

On November 4, 2025, bank regulatory partner Matthew Bisanz will speak to the Banking Law Committee of the New York City Bar on questions surrounding the implementation of the GENIUS Act. As the first federal framework for digital assets, the GENIUS Act is substantial in its potential impact, but light on many details. Issues such as the application or preemption of state law, appropriate scope of financial crime compliance obligations, and universe of permissible reserve assets abound. Matt will explore some of these ambiguities and uncertainties with the goal of fostering discussion and engagement on this important new law.
