The European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2025/351, bringing significant changes to the manufacturing and use of plastic food contact materials (FCM) across the European Union. Effective 24 March 2025, the revisions introduce the concept of ‘purity’ for substances used in the manufacture of FCM and articles, stricter safety requirements, migration limits, and labelling obligations for both virgin and recycled plastics.

Mayer Brown partner Pavlina Chopova-Leprêtre and scientific & regulatory advisor Hadjira Mezaïti will discuss the “high degree of purity” requirement in Regulation (EU) 2025/351, during the International Conference on Food Contact Compliance in Baveno, Italy.
