Alan Linning delivered a webinar to a reputable property developer on Handling Inquiries from Law Enforcement Agencies and Conducting Internal Investigations on 13 May 2020. It was attended by 36 staff.
Alan kicked off the webinar by describing the different types of inquiries from law enforcement agencies, including the Hong Kong police, ICAC, SFC, HKMA and government departments such as Customs & Excise, Inland Revenue and Labour departments. He went on to talk about search warrants describing the procedure to obtain a warrant. Then he focused on what to do if served with a search warrant, what the police and ICAC can seize, handling documents which are legally privileged and how to challenge a search warrant. Alan then briefly discussed conducting internal investigations, including the purpose and staffing of an investigation and issues of legal professional privilege. The webinar ended with a Q&A session.
