The future of global LNG: Sustaining growth in an uncertain geopolitical climate

This joint forum presented by Mayer Brown and Poten & Partners will focus on LNG growth in an uncertain geopolitical climate. Topics we will discuss in the forum include:
- Is US LNG losing its competitiveness? Costs continue to rise in the United States as a result of higher labor costs and higher prices for materials – driven in part by US tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. US liquefaction fees have risen sharply over the past three years, even as prices for Brent-related supply appear to be under pressure.
- US SPAs – how have they evolved? What protections are buyers asking for in order to ensure they receive their contracted quantities? How close are US LNG projects to reaching FIDs this year?
- US regulatory update. While there has been some additional clarity in the regulatory landscape, it remains unclear how retaliatory tariffs may affect imports of US LNG into Europe and Asia. Some efforts to ease regulatory burdens may land in court, resulting in additional delays.
- LNG supply from the Middle East. How are LNG export projects in the Middle East progressing? How do Middle Eastern players differ from other market participants?
- The demand outlook for key Asian markets. Will a lower LNG price spur demand? And if so, where and by how much? What trends are we seeing in respect of contractual terms and procurement strategies in Asia Pacific?
- Exploring growth in emerging markets. Where are the bright spots?
- Outlook for Brent-linked supply. How will shorter, cheaper and more Brent-linked supply compete with US LNG?
- Outlook in Europe. Prospects for Russian gas and LNG in Europe.
- Consolidation and integration. How are mega-mergers, acquisitions and equity investments re-shaping the LNG landscape?
