Paulo Rage is a partner of the practices: Corporate and M&A, International Tax, International Trade and Africa; in the Rio de Janeiro office of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown.

Paulo is a Lawyer qualified to practice in Brazil and Portugal and is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. Paulo has Masters (LL.M.) and Bachelor (LL.B./J.D.) of Laws from the Law School of Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG and is Analyst in International Trade by Aduaneiras. Paulo has a special practice in International Business & Cross-border Transactions; Cross-border M&A; Economic (Antitrust & World Trade) Law; International Law; Tax and International Tax Law; Internationalization and Projects of Companies in LATAM and EMEA (specially Sub-Saharan Africa) markets; and, Government and International Relations.

He has significant experience in planning and structuring (tax, corporate, regulatory and labor planning), as well as permanent advice, for complex cross-border projects, involving the following sectors: infrastructure, construction & engineering, energy and oil & gas, mining, heavy industries and agriculture. He also has prominent practice with LATAM (Latin America) and MEA (Middle East and Africa) markets, besides had represented several multinational companies in transactions thru different jurisdictions, such as: Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Malawi, Nigeria, UAE, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Equador, United States, United Kingdom, Portugal, Netherlands, Albania, China, India, among others.

Currently, besides being a Partner of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown (since 2017), he is also Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Brazil-Mozambique – CCIABM (since 2008). Before joining the firm, his previous experience includes: Partner of Bernardes & Advogados Associados (2014-2012), General Counsel of Investor Consulting Partners (2014-2010), Lawyer in the Trade Policy Program at the Embassy of Brazil in Washington, USA (2010-2009); Institutional Relations Manager and Lawyer of Manucci Advogados (2009-2008); Coordinator of Government and International Relations of the American Chamber of Commerce – AMCHAM (2008-2006) and coordination of several academic activities in International Law.
