Mayer Brown announced today that Children’s Law Center (CLC) named the firm a “Champion for Children” for the fifth consecutive year. The annual recognition highlights Mayer Brown’s generosity in pro bono and other contributions to CLC and dedication to improving the lives of children in DC.

“We are honored to be named a Champion for Children and value our longstanding partnership with CLC,” said Liz Stern, managing partner of the firm’s Washington DC office. “It is an outstanding organization and we support its mission and are committed to advancing efforts in our communities that support children and empower families.”

For more than a decade, the firm has worked with CLC on pro bono matters and fundraising efforts. CLC is a campaign partner of “Making the Case for Kids,” Mayer Brown’s multidimensional community service and pro bono campaign aimed at supporting children and education. In addition, the firm partnered with CLC to further social justice, including conducting critical policy research to fight to protect student’s ability to learn and grow in schools that are safe and nurturing.

“Mayer Brown is an essential partner in our work, and the firm’s commitment to ensuring every DC child can grow up with the resources they need to thrive is phenomenal,” said CLC Executive Director Judith Sandalow. “Mayer Brown’s continued generosity has led to legal and policy victories for DC children, from securing vital education services for students with special needs to successfully advocating for the removal of police from DC public schools.”

CLC is a DC-based nonprofit legal services provider with a mission to serve children in DC. Today, the organization reaches one out of every nine children in DC’s poorest neighborhoods, including more than 4,000 children and families in 2021.
