Mayer Brown was named a “Champion for Children” by Children’s Law Center (CLC) for the seventh consecutive year. This annual award recognizes the firm’s generosity in total annual contributions to CLC and its dedication to improving the lives of children.

“Mayer Brown is committed to serving our community, and by working with the Children's Law Center, we can truly make an impact on educational equity and help children thrive,” said Liz Stern, managing partner of the firm’s Washington DC office.

CLC is a partner organization with the firm’s racial and social justice initiative, Project Equity. Education equity is a core pillar of the firm’s program.

According to Children’s Law Center Executive Director Judith Sandalow, “Through our work with individual children and families, we see trends develop across the District and the need for systemic changes. We are grateful for Mayer Brown’s steadfast financial support for this work, helping us develop new approaches to secure more enduring results, including our first class-action lawsuit to stop transportation failures from keeping children with disabilities out of school. Through their dedication, talent and generosity, partners like Mayer Brown make this work possible.”

CLC is the District’s largest nonprofit legal services provider. CLC’s more than 100 staff work with DC children and families, community partners and pro bono attorneys toward a future where every child can grow up with a strong foundation of family, health and education and live in a world free from poverty, trauma, racism and other forms of oppression.
