Mayer Brown and Tauil & Chequer (T&C) in association with Mayer Brown advised on two transactions that were named winners by LatinFinance in its 2020 Deals of the Year Awards. The annual awards honor “the stand-out transactions and institutions in the capital markets of Latin America and the Caribbean.” The winning transactions are:

Corporate High-Yield Bond of the Year: Braskem
Hybrid bonds are rarely issued by Brazilian companies. T&C advised Braskem on the placement of $600 million in 60-year subordinate notes with a structure that is rarely seen in Latin America. This is the first of its kind by a non-financial institution in over a decade. The T&C team included Corporate & Securities partners Rodolfo Tella and Bruno Cerqueira, Banking & Finance associate Anna Gouvea and legal assistant Flávia Vazzolla (all São Paulo).

Corporate Liability Management of the Year: Aeropuertos Argentina 2000
Mayer Brown represented Citi, UBS and Banco Santander as dealer managers in connection with a Rule 144A/Regulation S exchange offering of any and all 6.875 percent notes issued by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000. This is for its newly issued 6.875 percent cash/9.375 percent PIK Class I Series 2020 additional senior secured notes. The team was led by Banking & Finance partners Douglas Doetsch and Juan Pablo Moreno and Capital Markets associate John Ablan (all Chicago).
