Visión general
Clients rely on Isabella Payne for guidance navigating the complex regulatory landscape governing consumer financial products and services. She advises banks, nonbank lenders, and other financial institutions on federal and state consumer finance laws, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and the prohibition on unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices (UDAAP). She also represents clients in state and federal regulatory enforcement matters.
Drawing on her consumer finance regulatory experience, Isabella maintains an active ERISA fiduciary practice, with particular depth in asset-backed securities offerings backed by consumer loan assets. She advises issuers, underwriters, and servicers on plan asset regulations, prohibited transaction exemptions, and ERISA fiduciary compliance considerations critical to the structuring and distribution of ABS transactions.
Isabella is committed to pro bono service and represents clients in U visa and asylum matters.
Before joining Mayer Brown, Isabella gained government and regulatory experience at the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served on the executive board of the Georgetown Law Journal of Gender and the Law.
