Eric J. Edwardson

Eric Edwardson provides a broad range of transactional and business counsel to clients in the residential mortgage banking and other consumer finance industries, with particular expertise in transactions for the origination, purchase, sale, servicing and financing of residential mortgage assets, including whole loans, servicing rights, and servicing advances; Eric's representation of clients in these industries is informed by his extensive knowledge and experience regarding the market, typical business and operational practices of participants, and the state and federal regulatory environment, including the requirements of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae; Eric also regularly acts as special counsel to clients on such matters as related to broader M&A transactions.

Represented:

• A leading nonbank purchaser of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae mortgage servicing rights in an ongoing coordinated program of purchase transactions (including bulk and flow) from hundreds of sellers, with total purchases related to mortgage loans with aggregate balances in excess of $1 trillion.
• A leading nonbank mortgage lender in ongoing strategic purchases and sales of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae mortgage servicing rights with multiple counterparties, related to mortgage loans with aggregate balances in excess of $100 billion.
• A non-bank lender and servicer in fintech-driven structures for outsourced origination and servicing of HELOCs for existing customers.
