Claude Chase is a senior associate. He advises governments and multinational companies on international trade law, WTO dispute settlement and related regulatory matters.

He has substantial experience representing governments in complex disputes involving subsidies, taxation, technical regulations, export restrictions, services commitments and market access measures. He also advises private companies on the international trade implications of domestic regulatory measures, including environmental and product regulation, and on evolving trade policy.

Experiencia

Representative matters include:

  • Counsel to the United Kingdom in the first arbitration under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement concerning UK measures prohibiting sandeel fishing in its waters *
  • Counsel to Australia in an arbitration under the WTO General Agreement on Trade in Services concerning proposed modifications to Australia’s GATS Schedule of Commitments *
  • Counsel to Panama in a WTO dispute under the WTO Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures concerning import restrictions on certain products of Costa Rican origin *
  • Counsel to Indonesia in a WTO dispute initiated by the European Union concerning restrictions on the exportation of nickel ore *
  • Counsel to Brazil in WTO compliance proceedings concerning Indonesia’s implementation of recommendations and rulings relating to measures affecting imports of Brazilian poultry products *
